I was responsible for leading a small internal team of three developers in building a fully custom cloud solution in Azure, with Blob Storage as a core component. The solution was created to support Sandvik’s web-based tool Plant Designer and integrated with an existing design tool. The result enabled engineers to create, manage, and save their designs directly in the cloud.
To maximize output in the small team, I introduced a hybrid methodology combining Kanban and Scrum. I drove agile ceremonies and took full responsibility for project planning – from requirements gathering and user story creation to stakeholder management and delivery scheduling. The work was primarily documented using Google tools (Docs, Sheets, etc.), while product documentation was structured and maintained in Confluence.
A central part of the assignment was communication with the client. I played an active and practical role in ensuring the customer’s needs were understood and translated into functionality with real business value – especially since many stakeholders were accustomed to traditional waterfall methods. This required clear communication and the ability to bridge differences in working methods and culture.
Beyond the technical outcome, a major success in the project was that I managed to get Sandvik’s management to start thinking more agile – laying the foundation for a long-term change in how the organization works with digital product development.
